Door, Window & Glazing Course

This course is four days monday to thursday and consists of day one glazing and boarding up, day two and three upvc doors, composite doors, french doors and sliding upvc doors and day four upvc window repairs, covering everything you need to get you up and running, you will get hands on practice with all of the below plus :

​Glazing & Boarding Up

  • Admin and Introductions 

  • Glass regulations handout

  • Glass Handling

  • Glass and spacer bar type's

  • How to measure estimate

  • How to measure approximate

  • Introduction of the merlin laser gauge

  • Removal of beads

  • Removal of double glazed unit

  • Fitting of double glazed unit and Packing 

  • Making a smashed unit safe

  • Boarding up a upvc door and window

 

Day two 

Door Repairs â€‹

  • Introduction to door's and type's of doors 

  • Replacing a euro cylinder, type's and fault's

  • Replacing door handles type's and faults

  • Mechanism identification and faults

  • Opening a upvc door when the mechanism has failed and way's they fail

  • Replacing door mechanism's, gearboxes and repairing

  • Securing a door when the mechanism has failed and haven't got the part

  • Replacing a euro cylinder on a french slave door 

  • Replacing a mechanism, shoot bolts and gearbox on a french door and slave door

Day three 

Door Repairs

  • Toe and healing a upvc door

  • Replacing a upvc door panel

  • Door hinge identification

  • Hinge adjustment for upvc and composite doors

  • Gasket Replacement

  • Replacing a mechanism on a upvc sliding door

  • Changing and adjusting the wheels/rollers on a upvc sliding door

Day four 

Window Repairs

  • Introduction to windows and type's

  • Replacing a upvc window handle, type's and fault's

  • Window mechanism identification and fault's

  • Opening a upvc window when the handle fails or mechanism fails and ways they fail

  • Replacing window mechanism's, gearboxes and keeps

  • Securing a window when the mechanism has failed and you haven't got the part

  • Friction stays/hinges Identification 

  • Friction stays/hinges type's and stack height's

  • Replacement of friction stays/hinges
